Michel Frizot is the Research Director, Emeritus at Le Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS). He teaches the history of photography at the Universite Paris IV-Sorbonne and at the École du Louvre. From 1982 to 1990, he was special advisor to the Centre National de la Photographie for the exhibitions Identités and Le Temps d'un mouvement, and for the collection Photo Poche. He has published numerous books and articles and works on photography, including Hippolyte Bayard, Birth of the Photographic Image (Amiens, Les Trois Cailloux, 1987); Chronophotography. Time, Photography, Movement (Beaune, 1984); E.J. Marey: La photographie du Mouvement (1977), Histoire de Voir (1989), and André Kertész (2010).
